Mask Making with Donna Demente

It's funny what a teacher can end up finding in their cupboards.  A few years back I was lucky enough to attend a workshop with artist Donna Demente.  This year I was looking threw my mask box and came across these photos I'd taken at her workshop.  I used the technique she taught us and that year my class made beautiful masks.  This year my class will be making venetian masks.

Clay form used to create the masks shape, then papier colle over top, clay being pulled out leaving the mask...adding texture to the mask.

After covering with a few layers of tissue paper the masks are painted with white acrylic paint, then the mask can be painted.
